Trauma comes in many forms and includes witnessing traumatic events and our loved ones’ reactions to traumatic events. Trauma touches most peoples’ lives at one time or another – car accidents, life threatening illness, sudden death, terrorism, war, and community violence are examples. Even watching news reports of these events can be upsetting, infusing our day-to-day life with trauma. Our sensitivity to it and ability to cope determine the impact of trauma. This blog is about increasing awareness of trauma and learning to cope effectively with its effects.
